Gary Haun, ACA-HIS

Owner and Audioprosthologist

Gary is the owner and Audioprosthologist of Bryant Better Hearing, which has been serving West Texas and the Concho Valley since 1968. He specializes in the evaluation of each patient’s hearing deficiencies and then fitting them with the hearing device that will best suit their needs and lifestyle.

Gary attended he University of Texas at San Antonio and became a licensed hearing aid dispenser in 1983. In 1991 he recieved his certification from the American Conference of Audioprosthology. His affiliations include membership in the Texas Hearing Aid Society. He sits on the State Licensing Board and was selected 2016 Texas Hearing Aid Association’s Dispenser of the Year.


Debra Hamilton, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Debra Hamilton received her Doctor of Audiology degree from Central Michigan University in 2004 after graduating with her Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1981. For 37 years she has provided audiology services in San Angelo; identifying, assessing, and managing disorders of the auditory, balance, and other neural systems.

Dr. Hamilton is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, certified by the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association, and the American Board of Audiology, and licensed by the State of Texas.


Kristy Villarreal

Business Manager

Kristy Villarreal is the Business Manager of Bryant Better Hearing. She joined the team in July 2013. Kristy brought with her an extensive level of experience in the Senior Healthcare Industry, Public Relations, Marketing and Office Management. As a native West Texan, Kristy has an understanding of what makes our patients so unique and special and she treats everyone who walks through our doors as if they are part of the family.

Alexis Villarreal, HIS

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Alexis is from San Angelo and graduated from Central High School. She studied at ASU and got her Hearing Instrument Specialist license through the State of Texas. She has four dogs that keep her busy when she’s at home! She loves to paint, make shadow boxes, and create special gifts for friends and family. Down time includes binging on Netflix and hanging out with 2-legged and 4-legged friends.

Alexis began working at Bryant Better Hearing part time while she was in college. As she watched and learned what a difference hearing aids made in a person’s life, she knew she was where God intended her to be. “I never realized how much it meant to give a sense back a someone.”

Bryant Better Hearing is a family, welcomes each patient and makes him or her feel comfortable and at home. Alexis is proud of the level of care that is given to each person who comes in for help, and of how everyone works together to make each patient feel respected.

Ashlyn Sinclair, BS, HIS

Hearing Instruments Specialist

Born and raised in the San Angelo area, Ashlyn graduated from Wall High School and has a degree from Texas Tech. She is happily married and the couple has two cats and a Cocker Spaniel.

Ashlyn enjoys “getting physical,” and works out daily, often running with Otis the Dog!  She enjoys hunting trips with family as well.

Interest in hearing and hearing loss began for Ashlyn at a young age, and her concentration at Tech was speech, language and hearing. Eventually she decided to specialize in audiology and has never regretted her choice. “The more I learned about hearing loss and how hearing aids work I got excited knowing I could help others to hear better by giving them a part of their life back that was missing,” she says.

The teamwork that exists at Bryant Better Hearing makes her job seem like working with family, and Ashlyn loves the camaraderie as well as her one on one time with patients.


Ginny Cardona

Hearing Aid Technician

Ginny has spent over 19 years working with the hearing impaired and has a CAOHC Certification. She loves working to change people’s lives.

Ginny has two dogs and loves hanging out with them and with her family and friends. She is originally from Ft. Stockton and graduated from Ft. Stockton High School.

The staff she is proud to work with is amazing, and Ginny loves the team-oriented family atmosphere she experiences every day, saying, “Our patients are not only our friends but they are family as well.”


Melina Swift

Patient Care Coordinator

Melina began working with Bryant Better Hearing very recently, but she’s already impressed with how much her co workers love their jobs! Originally from Arizona, Melina has two grown children, a husband to whom she has been married for 23 years, and a miniature Schnauzer named Abby. She loves to read, craft, cook, and be with her family.

Working with people is one of Melina’s specialties, and as a patient care coordinator, she has plenty of opportunities!  “I enjoy serving others and seeing other’s needs met,” she says.

Maggie Cox

Physician Liaison

In addition to her job at Bryant Better Hearing, Maggie is a full time dog mom to her Border Collie, Ellie. This baby girl is gorgeous, playful, and very special to her human! Maggie has lived in San Angelo all her life and graduated from Central High School and Angelo State. She loves shopping, cooking and trying new recipes, is pretty “artsy/craftsy”, and loves long walks—down the aisles at Hobby Lobby!

The opportunity to change people’s lives is what most attracted Maggie to work at Bryant Better Hearing. The care and assistance the company provides to the San Angelo community inspired her to become a part of something dedicated to helping others.

Working with the other staff has been a joy. “We see so much in day to day life, and the fact that our staff genuinely cares about helping people to hear again is truly an amazing experience.”

Pat Clay

Administrative Assistant

Pat is a graduate of Brady High Schooland studied at ASU and Texas Women’s University. She is the mother of five children, three of whom are living. She was married for 31 years and is a widow. She shares her home with Onyx, a Cane Corso, who is her baby and gets pretty much anything she wants! Pat loves to read and to take care of others, especially the elderly. She previously worked for GTE for over 31 years, and at two nursing homes.

Pat enjoys working with people and is excited about the new innovations in hearing care. She loves working with everyone at Bryant Better Hearing and is proud to be a part of such a patient-focused, caring company. “The staff is wonderful to work with and customer service is outstanding.”

Abilene Hearing Care Professionals

Wendy Artho, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Artho was born and raised in the Texas Panhandle. She attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences in 2003 and her Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) in 2007. She completed her audiology externship at a neurotology clinic in Dallas, TX where she further advanced her skills in diagnostic audiology, hearing aid fitting, and cochlear implant programming. Dr. Artho then moved to Abilene where she has been serving the hearing healthcare needs of the community since 2008.

Dr. Artho is state board licensed, a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA), and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She specializes in diagnostic hearing evaluations, treatment of hearing loss with advanced hearing technology, cochlear implant programming, and vestibular testing. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four daughters.


Jon Ashby, Ph.D., CCC-SLP & A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Jon Ashby is a highly trained, experienced audiologist. He has completed post-doctoral training in hearing sciences and gerontology at Baylor, University of Denver, University of Maryland and Columbia University. Dr. Ashby is a licensed professional in the State of Texas and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. He consistently maintains more than the required number of continuing education hours to keep on top of the latest developments.

Dr. Ashby is a former professor at UNT, ACU, and currently is a visiting professor at Hardin Simmons. In his private practice he has helped people with hearing loss for nearly forty years. No one has done more for hearing and speech in Abilene.

Tammy Colmery, HIS

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Tammy was born in Indiana but moved with her family to Texas when she was a baby. She grew up in Abilene and is a graduate of Cooper High School. Tammy has three daughters: Kadence, Kynzie, and Kyra, and is married to Dave Colmery. The family lives on some acreage in the country with seven dogs, two goats, and some cats that come and go as they please.

Tammy and Dave enjoy dirt bike racing, she loves 4-wheeling, and reads when she has time. The couple is busy remodeling their home. Tammy was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force and has worked in patient care fields since her discharge from the service and says “I love the ability to help people hear better. It is a truly life changing experience.”

Tammy enjoys the family atmosphere at Bryant Better Hearing. The care and respect that every patient receives, as well as the extensive follow up attention, are what she loves about the company.
